CYCLONE YAAS |
A low pressure area
has been created in the bay of Bengal .The cyclone named YASS is likely
intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm according to IMDl. It is expected
to move towards the north ,North-west direction and touch the land either on
Odisha,West Bengal or Bangladesh on 26th May.
There will be slight to moderate rain in the coastal districts
of Odisha on 25th of may and will be heavy on 26th may
.The wind speed will be around 40-60km/hr on 25th and will increase
on 26th may .
The IMD is expecting heavy wind and rainfall and hence alerted the fishermen to not
to go for fishing. All the families will be shifted to the nearest cyclone shelter centres from the coastal area
.
All concerned departments like electricity companies,
rural and urban water supply departments, health departments, Odisha Disaster
Response Force, and NDRF teams have been put on alert to be in readiness with
the manpower, material,” said Chief Secretary Mahapatra.
Mahapatra said that the process for identification of
cyclone shelters and safe buildings in large-scale has been started. Whatever
is required for relief and rescue has been arranged.The entire administration
is fully prepared to cope with the cyclone.
According
to the Special relief Commissioner Pradeep K Jena,two airplanes and ships of
the Indian Coast Guard, Paradip are patrolling in the sea to guide ships,
fishing boats to come to the shore well before the cyclone.
