The khadkhai dam also called as Suleipat dam is situated in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha state in India .The dam is built on river Khadakhai .The government planned to stop the flowing of the Khadkhai river with the help of a dam ,so that the local people will not be effected at the time of cultivation and hence executed the plan and finally the dam stood .

HOW TO REACH?

 One can reach the dam from three places (Baripada,Jashipur,Rairangpur) of Mayurbhanj district .You should first arrive at Odisha (INDIA) then at Baripada(dist headq of Mayurbhanj) and then search the keyword ‘Suleipat dam’ in google map and hence get the direction .You can use your own vehicle two or four wheeler to reach their .Again you may hire a vehicle of your choice from above mentioned three places to visit the dam.

 WHAT CAN I SEE?

You can see the natural beauty of the dam surrounded by two high hills ,a vast area covering with dam water, the cultivated or non- cultivated agricultural field, a small park for children’s play and photography and you may find some tribal men and women catching fish or other water animals like crab, shells and shrimps. Enjoy bathing in the non-prohibited area of the dam .There is no restriction of taking photography all over the dam but you need to be careful while taking photos as it is a deep water reservoir.

BEST TIME TO VISIT 

 The best time to visit the dam is during cold seasons in the month of December and January . This is the time when most of the tourist parties come to the place and you may also prefer this time. You may come in another season also .

 CAN I DO PICNIC THERE?

Yes, You can prepare and eat cooked food there with your family or friends and hence the visit will turn into a jungle feast .For this you need to take all necessary cooking materials .It is advised to take dry food or packed food if you are not cooking for your own .

There is negligible or no fees for visiting the dam .

 BEST TIME TO ENTRY AND EXIT

 If you are visiting the dam with picnic purpose then it is better to enter before 10.00AM and if not you may come late .The exit time is before sunset or may be between 5PM to 6PM. 

WHERE TO STAY AFTER EXIT?

 You do not need to stay at the dam as there is no such facilities .You have to come to Baripada/Rairangpur /Jashipur to stay in the HOTEL.
